First memorable experience:
That Sat. morning in Coole Park 2 years ago nearly killed me. Had to take to the bed for the day after that morning. I was very knew to exercise and had never even done a burpee, or run any sort of distance twas torture.. Over the last 2 years though I have had many good memories. I really enjoyed the 8 week Lean plan challenge last May to July 2016. It connected me to more of the team where we were all on the same goal. It was great doing the plan with so many.. Also the class we had on kettlebells with Jason was really good. I learned so much that day. Like the burpees I had never heard of kettlebells till I joined the CFC team.
Why do you do group fitness?
For me I joined at 39. I suffer from endometriosis which can affect women's fertility. So my 30’s were spent having a number of treatments over the years. When I was 39 and realised my life was not going to be what I had planned, I had to find other things to keep me going. I could have watched TV in the evening but the CFC page kept coming up on my Facebook page. So I just said that's it I’ll go. I had no idea what the gym was going to be like or if I would be able for it or not. I found it so hard at the beginning but my head felt so clear after every class.
What keeps you coming back for more?
For me it's for my overall wellbeing. The class is different at every session and anyone who knows me I hate most of the exercises - i just get on with it - but I always feel so great afterwards. I am a lot more toned now, I have a clear head after every session and much more positive in myself. The classes themselves are actually good fun. We all take a look at the white board and mutter to ourselves, but it's a great achievement completing the class. Colm & Colleen are fantastic trainers they push you in a positive way - nothing is too hard to do in their opinion. The members are all lovely, I’ve made lovely friends along the way and we really do have good fun - Sure that's what it’s all about.
Favourite exercise: Push Ups (I think)
Least favourite exercise: Jumping on the dreaded boxes (still have not figured this one out), running, burpees – the list goes on – but I just get on with them and do my best.
Favourite cheat meal: Anything with red wine….
